  1. A (partial) Solution to Space Quest
  2. The manual is not required for solution.
  3.  
  4. Travel 3 screens West from the start.  "Search body" then "take
  5. card" (1).  Go 2 screens East and wait for scientist to enter. 
  6. "Look at scientist" (2) then "look at screen"  Enter "astral body"
  7. then "take cartridge" (5).  DON'T PUT CARTRIDGE IN SLOT!
  8.  
  9. Go West the North into elevator.  Go East then North through the
  10. door.  "Look at screen" then travel S, E then North into elevator. 
  11. Go East and "look at console"  "Press open bay door button" (2) and
  12. move East.  "Use card" (2) then go North into elevator.
  13.  
  14. "Look at console" then "press airlock button".  Go to closets and
  15. "press left button".  "Look in closet" then "take gadget" (2). 
  16. "Look at gadget" then "turn dial" and "press button".  "Look in
  17. closet" then "take suit" (2)
  18.  
  19. Go West and "look at console".  "Press platform button" (1) and move
  20. to left side of pod.  "Get into pod" and "fasten belt".  "Close
  21. door" and "look at console".  "Press power button" then "press
  22. autonav button" (2).  "Look at screen" then "pull throttle" (15).
  23.  
  24. Wait for pod to land then "unfasten belt" and "examine pod".  "Take
  25. kit" (2) then "open kit".  "Look at water" and "read label".  "Leave
  26. pod" then move to front of pod.  "Examine pod" then "take glass"
  27. (3).
  28.  
  29. Travel E, E, E, N and enter cave.  Move immediately behind rocks
  30. then "drink water".  "Throw can (5) to dispose of Orat then move to
  31. part of Orat that appears on cave floor after the explosion.  "Take
  32. part" (2) then exit cave to the West and move one screen South.
  33.  
  34. Move up ramp and turn West in the next screen.  Mo0ve West across
  35. the bridge to the rock.  Wait for the spider to appear and walk
  36. directly beneath the rock. (You may have to save game prior to
  37. pushing the rock and attempt this several times.)  "Push rock" (5
  38. points if you crush the spider) and move W, N, E, E.
  39.  
  40. Walk through the arch (2) then leave elevator to the West.  "Look
  41. around" then "take rock".  Move West to the next screen.  Here you
  42. must move hard against the Northern wall then go West across the
  43. grate.  "Put rock in geyser" (4) and go North through the newely
  44. opened rock door.
  45.  
  46. Go North (to back of cave) then West.  Move close to barrier (not
  47. too close!) and "use glass" (5).  Walk East along path.  Move East
  48. being very careful to avoid the acid drops (3) and then east again.
  49.  
  50. "Listen to hologram" then "drop part" (10).  Move North and "listen
  51. to alien".  Go to the computer and "look at console".  "Put
  52. cartridge in slot" to get the code 6858 (5).  "Take cartridge" (5)
  53. and "get on skimmer".  "Look at skimmer".
  54.  
  55. NOTE : You should adjust the game speed to slow and save your game
  56. as the ride which follows is a little difficult.
  57.  
  58. "Turn key" then try to avoid boulders.  You will be allowed two
  59. minor crashes but the third will destroy you.  You get (25) for
  60. negotiating the boulder field successfully.
  61.  
  62. "Get off skimmer" and ignore the man who offers to buy it.  Go East
  63. into the bar.  Wait for the man at the slot machine to die then
  64. leave the bar to the West.  Go to the skimmer and wait for the man
  65. to offer to buy it.  Say "yes" (5) and you will also receive a
  66. jetpack.
  67.  
  68. Enter the bar and go to the slot machine.  Saving your game after
  69. each win, build your money to $250.  Go to the bar and [wait for
  70. barman, order "beer" then "drink beer"]  You must do this 3 times to
  71. overhear SECTOR HH (5).
  72.  
  73. Leave the bar (West) and go W, N.  "Buy ship" (4) then go S, E. 
  74. Enter the bar and play the machine again to build your cash up to
  75. $36.  Leave the bar and go N, E.  Enter the building to the North
  76. and "buy droid" (4) at the top of the stairs.  Leave the building
  77. and move 2 screens West.
  78.  
  79. "Get into ship" and "load droid".  Answer "HH" (25) and wait for
  80. ship to stop.  "Wear jetpack" and "leave ship".  Move to the centre
  81. of the door and "open door".  Move North through door.  Wait for
  82. door to open then move North through it (1).
  83.  
  84. "Look around" then "open trunk".  "Get into trunk" (3) and wait for
  85. trunk to be moved.  "Open trunk" and go to washing machine door. 
  86. "Open door" and "get into machine" (5).  After this sequence, move
  87. East then North into the left elevator.  Go West then North into the
  88. elevator.  Travel 3 screens East.
  89.  
  90. "Look in uniform" then "show ID".  When robot leaves, "take grenade"
  91. (1) then wait for robot to return with pulseray (3).  Move West and
  92. stop immediately above guard.  "Throw grenade" (5) and move 2
  93. screens West.  Go North into elevator.
  94.  
  95. WARNING : From this point on, you should press F6 to fire pulseray
  96. during screen changes.  No damage is done if no guard is in the next
  97. screen but they are faster on the trigger than you are if they
  98. happen to be there.  Their presence is random.
  99.  
  100. Move East and kill guard (3).  Move East again and "search body"
  101. (3).  "Press button" (3) then go up stairs.  "Look at panel" then
  102. enter the sequence 6, 8, 5, 8, ENTER (10).
  103.  
  104. Move West then North into elevator.  Go North into elevator on right
  105. (1).  Go to shuttle and "get into shuttle".  "Look at shuttle" then
  106. "press button" (3) and you're a hero!
  107.  
  108. This should give a total of 194 out of a possible 202 (which is not
  109. as heroic as I'd hoped.)
